Supernatural Season 15, Episode 5 is going to give us a blast from the past. Here’s a breakdown of the promo with the five top takeaways.

The Winchester brothers are heading to the woods again in Supernatural Season 15, Episode 5. With the new promo out, it’s time to break it down to see what we can expect.

There are going to be plenty of throwbacks to the past by the looks of things. Will all this be enough to deal with the pain we’re all feeling after the last episode. After all, when Sammy hurts, we hurt, right? Our boy is not okay.

Before we get into the promo takeaways, here is a look at it to see what to expect. I’ve also included the synopsis.

"Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean’s (Jensen Ackles) routine case turns out to be anything but."

More from Supernatural

From this point, we’re getting into sort of spoilery territory. Of course, it does depend on what you believe is a spoiler. I don’t view promos and synopses as spoilers, more like teases, but if you do, then you’ve been warned!

There’s plenty to break down, even though the 20-second trailer didn’t seem to give too much away. Here’s a look at what to expect.

5. Blasts from the past

There’s going to be some blasts from the past this week, mostly from the names that they’ve used before and their old IDs. In the promo, we see the two pull out IDs from the first couple of seasons. “Agent Mark Hamill” and “Agent Dean Ford” are the names. I still have to question why it’s not “Sam Hamill,” and I wonder if that will come up.

Regardless, this can’t be the only blast from the past. Just how many more will show up to remind us of things before in the final season?

4. Even the ranger doesn’t believe it’s normal

When the Winchesters head to the ranger to talk about the “mountain lion attack,” she comments “if that’s what you’re calling it.” It’s almost like she knows that this isn’t a mountain lion, like there’s something else going on.

In many cases like these, the rangers end up learning something of the truth. Will that be the case here? Possibly. I’m hoping she’s one who makes it to the end because the Winchesters deserve a happy ending to a case.

3. Lots of jokes about getting older

I think we can expect plenty of “old man” jokes throughout the episode. This is actually something I expected when the Winchesters went to high school, but it’s clear from the promo this week that we’re going to get them here instead.

Expect the “old man” jokes to add comedic relief to the episode. I have a feeling that this is going to be one of those that makes Dean the butt of most of the jokes.

2. Another monster-of-the-week case

We’re dealing with another monster-of-the-week case, by the looks of things. The promo and synopsis for Supernatural Season 15, Episode 5 shows that it’s just the two brothers on the hunt for a monster.

Of course, there’s a chance that other elements are thrown in. We’re still waiting to find out what’s going on with Jack in the Empty with Billie. Could this episode finally be the moment we find out?

Plus, just because it’s a monster of the week episode doesn’t mean there won’t be other elements of the main storyline thrown in. We need more from Sammy to help him deal with the pain and loss he’s feeling right now.

1. It looks like a werewolf

In Episode 4, we dealt with a vampire. In this episode, it looks like we’re dealing with a werewolf. That’s not all too surprising considering we’re in the woods and we’re getting a lot of throwbacks to monsters past.

However, this is supposed to be a routine case that isn’t all that routine. What’s different about the werewolf? Is it a pack or just a solo wolf on the hunt? I guess we’ll have to wait until Thursday to find out.
