An old friend returns in Supernatural Season 15, Episode 6. Who could it be? Here’s everything we know from the synopsis for Golden Time.

The CW has released the Supernatural Season 15, Episode 6 synopsis. Titled “Golden Time,” there’s an old friend returning. Who could that be?

Sadly (or maybe not), the synopsis doesn’t give us any clues as to who is coming back. All we get to know is that the Winchester brothers are visited by an old friend. There are plenty of characters returning this season, but the mention of “old friend” suggests that this is someone we haven’t seen in a while.

Around the time of filming this episode, we did learn that someone we haven’t seen since Season 7 is returning—someone who is no longer even in the acting business. We also found out recently that someone from 11 years ago is returning, which means the end of Season 3 or beginning of Season 4.

Of course, this could be someone we haven’t met yet. An old friend of the Winchesters doesn’t mean someone we have seen on the show yet. We know that Christian Kane is guest-starring as a hunter friend of Dean. It’s possible that he’s the one this synopsis references.

The focus for Supernatural Season 15, Episode 6 isn’t just on the Winchesters, either. Castiel has a case of his own. He’s going to investigate the disappearance of a local teen. Is it possible that the case will connect to something that Sam and Dean are working on? Maybe, but we could see Castiel out on his own for a while after that heartbreaking moment at the end of Episode 3.

We also get to learn that Meredith Glynn wrote the episode, with John Showalter in the director’s chair. Personally, Glynn’s episodes have been among my least favorite on average in recent years, but I always keep an open mind going into the episode.
