Supernatural Season 7, Episode 5 sees a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunion and Dean attempt to give marriage advice. Here are my five favorite lines from it.

“Shut Up, Dr. Phil” brought something we didn’t know we needed: a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunion during a Supernatural episode. It’s time to delve into the episode with my five favorite lines.

You might see things different now, uh – call it a runner’s high or some crap – but that doesn’t mean that something’s going on with me, okay?

Dean certainly takes the majority of the lines. He had a lot of focus in the episode, especially as it came off the back of “Defending Your Life.” Sam knew that something was eating at Dean, but, as usual, Dean refused to talk about it. It’s not like Dean could talk about it because he knew what he’d done to Amy Pond was wrong.

However, this line is important. He recognizes that Sam is looking at life differently and has decided to let the guilt go. In a way, Dean is really just Dean in this episode—the Dean we’ve always known, because he’s always taken things on that even weren’t his fault. That’s just who he is and who he always will be.

Don Stark. Why do I know that name?

For a man who uses a lot of aliases, Dean should have known who Don Stark was. It’s not that he knew the developer, but that he would have likely heard of the actor with that name. Don Stark played Donna’s dad in That 70s Show.

It’s a shame that there wasn’t that connection made by the end of the episode. Either Dean isn’t a fan of the series (unlikely) or he just decided to let that name go.

There were tiny beating hearts in my cupcakes. There were hearts in my cupcakes, hearts in my cupcakes!

After seven seasons, it’s easy to forget that most people would be surprised to find tiny beating hearts in the cupcakes. This line just reminds us of how we’d likely feel if we saw something like this. Even as fans of the show, we’d never expect to see real, tiny beating hearts in our cupcakes. Would we?

That means we got not just one pissed-off witch. We’ve got two. It’s full-on “War of the Roses.”

Growing up in Yorkshire, the War of the Roses is all about the civil war between the Houses of York and Lancaster. When I first heard this line, I had to question whether Dean would have known something like this. He wouldn’t and it should have been Sam who said it.

Actually, Dean was talking about the movie. There were plenty of movie references throughout this episode, but there were also plenty of history references. I would have loved for Sam to mention something about the historical War of the Roses and Dean made a note of the movie.

Look – obviously, you two are capable of wiping each other out, right? But you haven’t, huh? Which means that you two – you still value whatever it is you got.

I just love seeing Dean try to give relationship advice. Considering it would have only just been a year since he had left Lisa and Ben behind to join his brother hunting again, it is fitting that Dean would have been the one to give the advice. Plus, he does know a think or two about what does and doesn’t make a relationship work.

However, this whole moment was hilarious. Dean looked uncomfortable and you could tell the two witches were shocked that a hunter was giving them advice.
