Supergirl is about to get a little Supernatural. Mitch Pileggi is joining the series for Season 5 in an ancient alien role. Here’s what we know so far.

If you’ve been on the fence about watching Supergirl, the latest news may be enough to sway you into it. Former Supernatural guest star, Mitch Pileggi, is joining the superhero series for its fifth season.

Deadline reports that Pileggi will have a recurring role as the ancient alien Rama Khan. He is able to control the four elements, so you know that’s going to throw Supergirl and her friends for a loop. Arrogant and willful, he’s supposed to protect the Earth. However, that’s probably not going to be the way it all plays out, especially when his agenda puts him at odds with Kara and her friends and with Lena Luthor.

Pileggi is joined by Cara Buono, who will also have a recurring role as the ancient alien Gamemnae. Both characters were introduced in the DC Comics in 2002 in the JLA series. The two are connected to Atlantis in the comics, but will that be the case in Supergirl?

There isn’t too long to find out. Supergirl returns with its fifth season premiere on Oct. 6, as part of the female superhero night on The CW. It follows the new Arrowverse series, Batwoman, whose titular character was introduced in the Arrowverse crossover, “Elseworlds.”

It’s unclear just how many episodes Pileggi will be in, but it’s going to be more than one. Considering his run of bad guys, he’ll likely play what turns out to be a villain on the superhero series.
