Supernatural went to the Old West in Season 6, Episode 18, titled Frontierland. Here are the five best lines during the hunt for a phoenix.

It was a trip to the Old West for a phoenix in Supernatural Season 6, Episode 18. The fun episode delivered the real truths of the time period, making Dean realize just how much the movies romanticize it. However, we also got a chance to see Sam and Samuel Colt bond.

There were some excellent lines from “Frontierland.” Here are my five favorite ones.

We hop back in time, we join up with Samuel Colt, we hunt the phoenix, and then we haul the ashes back home with us.

The episode starts with the Winchesters realizing that they need to get their hands on a phoenix. It just so happens that Samuel Colt, the one who made the devil’s trap around the Gate to Hell in Season 2 and the monster-killing colt, had faced one and wrote about it.

I love how Dean sums everything up that they need to do. He makes it all sound so simple and like they’ve done all this before. Of course, despite all the monsters and supernatural events they’ve seen, they’ve never had to do this, and that’s what I find so fun about the line.

Marshall Eastwood. Clint Eastwood. This here is, uh, Walker. He’s a Texas Ranger.

Naturally, Dean has to get the next line. He introduces himself as Clint Eastwood and Sam as Walker, a Texas Ranger. There was no way that he wouldn’t do that, right? This is a guy who loves Westerns and has always wanted to see the time period.

The best thing is for once the names wouldn’t sound too off for the people. At least it was better than the names Dean gave for him and Castiel in “Tombstone.”

You Samuel Colt? My name is Sam Winchester. I’m — I’m a hunter from the year 2011.

Sam decides to use the truth. It’s refreshing. Most of the time, the Winchesters come up with some sort of lie, which always made Sam uncomfortable in the beginning. He hated that they went through with fraud to help people.

Knowing who Samuel Colt is, he gets the feeling that the truth will be better. While he doesn’t expect Colt to just accept it, he does know that it will be easier to explain.

Well, when you’ve done this job as long as I have… a giant from the future with some magic brick doesn’t exactly give you the vapors.

Samuel Colt follows up with the next best line from Supernatural Season 6, Episode 18. He takes one look at the Blackberry and accepts that Sam is from the future. It turns out that Colt has seen plenty in his lifetime.

It’s not that surprising with this in mind that he’s been working on the giant devil’s trap. He wants to keep the world safe. You could say he gives the idea of a demon-free world to the Men of Letters. Maybe? Am I stretching there?

Well, good…’Cause we got less than an hour before you pick up the kids at Frontierland.

Finally, Bobby takes a line. He allows Castiel to use his soul to recharge. There’s nothing Bobby wouldn’t do for the Winchester brothers. They’re like sons to him.

However, this line is more than just a show of wanting his sons back. He views them as kids still, because our children (biological, adopted, surrogate, whatever) will always be kids to us. And he can’t help but mention “Frontierland,” since the name of the episode is taken from the Disneyland park.
