Netflix gets a legacy deal for The CW’s Supernatural: What does this mean?
Netflix has reportedly entered a legacy deal with The CW for current shows on the streaming service. What does this mean for Supernatural?
There’s some good news for Supernatural fans who use Netflix to binge-watch the show after a new season airs. Despite the current deal between Netflix and The CW coming to an end, there’s reportedly a new legacy deal set up.
What’s on Netflix reports that all current CW shows on the streaming service, which includes the Winchester brothers, the Arrowverse, and much more, will remain on the streaming service for the time being. There were worries that the shows would be removed next month but it looks like Netflix has scored the deal recently.

Even better news is that the new seasons of the shows should go to the service. We should see Supernatural Season 15 head to Netflix next year. This may not be eight days after the season is available like it currently is, but it should arrive on the service eventually.
However, the deal won’t likely be exclusive. While Netflix will get to retain the CW titles, other streaming services will get the chance to put the titles on their platforms. Most importantly for the Winchester brothers, they’ll get to head to the WarnerMedia streaming service when that’s set up, which is slated for the end of this year or start of next year.
The shows won’t remain on Netflix forever. Legacy deals usually mean the shows remain for a few years after they’ve completed, so we should get a few more years after the 15th season ends.
This only applies to Netflix U.S. It also only applies to the current shows on the service. Newer CW shows won’t automatically go to Netflix.
