The deal between Netflix and The CW has come to an end. Does this mean Supernatural will be removed from Netflix?

Supernatural Season 14 has only just been added to Netflix U.S. Now there’s a chance the season (and all 13 other seasons of the show) will be removed from the streaming service. Netflix and The CW have not renewed their current deal.

We knew this was coming. WarnerMedia had mentioned that the deal wouldn’t likely be renewed. There are plans to put the Warner Bros. shows on the upcoming WarnerMedia service later this year and WarnerMedia wants its shows exclusively on its own service. Most of the CW shows are Warner Bros. Studios productions, including Supernatural.

However, don’t panic just yet. Just because the deal has come to an end doesn’t mean that the show will immediately be taken off the service. The contract hasn’t expired just yet, with Arrow, The Flash, and Riverdale heading to the streaming service eight days after their season finales.

The current contract will likely run until June at the very least. So, we have a bit of time to definitely catch all 14 seasons.

And even then, this doesn’t mean the Winchesters will immediately leave Netflix. We’ll likely get a one-month warning.

Right now, it means that the CW shows will individually need to make deals with Netflix or other platforms for the right to stream the episodes. The Netflix/CW deal made the streaming (as part of the subscription) exclusive. So, now, the streaming service will need to bid for the show along with other platforms, including Amazon Prime, Hulu, and more.

The current 14 seasons could be removed in the future. Netflix U.S. is going to be more like the service internationally where some CW shows may be on the streaming service and some won’t be. It’s annoying and disappointing but just the way business works. When the WarnerMedia streaming service is up, I suspect that will be when Supernatural is completely removed from Netflix and put on the new streaming platform.
