5 most memorable guest stars in Supernatural Season 5
There were many guest stars in Supernatural Season 5. While some you may have forgotten, there are others that will be singed into your brain.
Every season, there are some guest stars that stand out more than others. Some of these guest stars get bigger roles as the season progresses, while others just make a mark for their single appearances. Supernatural Season 5 is one of those seasons with a mixture of both.

There are characters on the show now that got their start on the series in the fifth season. Others have left us in later years, but they got their initial beginnings at some point in the big apocalyptic season. Then there are others that we haven’t heard from within the SPN Family since.
For this list, only those who got their start in Supernatural Season 5 qualified. That meant Alona Tal, Samantha Ferris, Jim Beaver, Cindy Sampson, Nicholas Elia, Chad Lindberg, and others who had already appeared in previous seasons don’t count. I’m also counting out Mark Sheppard and Mark Pellegrino, as they had major roles to play in the season, unlike other guest stars.
Here are the five most memorable guest stars from the season.
5. Titus Welliver
The first on the list is the first who to show up in the season. He played War, the first of the four Horsemen released when Lucifer was released from the cage.
There are a few reasons Titus Welliver stands out. One of those is because of how prominent he is of an actor. You can now watch him in Bosch on Amazon Prime as the titular character, which Rob Benedict was in two episodes of during the fifth season.
However, the biggest reason is linked to another TV series before this season of Supernatural aired. It’s all about LOST. Welliver and Mark Pellegrino shared a number of scenes throughout the series.
4. Matt Frewer
Like Titus Welliver, Matt Frewer played one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse. He was Pestilence and was only in for a short period of time at the very end. However, he was certainly memorable.
Frewer actually has a number of reasons to stand out, also like Welliver. He’s been connected to Supernatural crew members since, appearing in The Magicians and Timeless. Recently, he was also in The Order. Each time, he’s played someone different, making it clear just how amazing an actor he is.
3. Paris Hilton
There was no way that Paris Hilton could be left off this list. She was the big name of the season, brought in for the fans, especially fans of Jared Padalecki. While her acting wasn’t that great, she did have an excellent role in the season. Her character reminded us of the pagan gods, the original gods that the Winchesters had been up again.
The fan service was due to Padalecki and Hilton previously working together on House of Wax. I’ll admit that I’m still waiting for Chad Michael Murray and Elisha Cuthbert to appear on the series! Maybe for the final season?
2. Kim Rhodes
Second on the list is a woman who would later become a fan favorite character. Supernatural Season 5 was when Jody Mills first appeared, and we weren’t sure how to take her originally. Would she be friend or foe? We’d seen law enforcement get in the way of the Winchesters far too much.
Part of the reason she’s memorable in this season is because of what she becomes. However, she held her own during the episode while having a heartbreaking storyline for any parent and spouse. It was the storyline that helped make it clear she’d be one to look out for and trust in the future.
1. Julian Richings
I had to save the best for last. Don’t get me wrong. I do adore Mark Sheppard, but Crowley ended up becoming a series regular, which is why I chose to leave him off this list. It feels wrong to put him at the top of the list of guest stars.
So, it has to go to the man who received the best entrance of the whole series: Death. Julian Richings was only in one episode but he has one of the most memorable scenes. Who would have thought Death and Dean would enjoy pizza together?
Arguably, he’s the most memorable of the four Horsemen and that’s not because he’s shown up since. He embodies Death fully and has one of the bigger roles just within the one episode he appears in during Supernatural Season 5.
