The Supernatural Season 14 finale left us with a major plot twist and plenty of questions. One of those questions surrounds the fate of a fan-favorite character. Is this particular person really dead?

There’s no doubt that Supernatural Season 14 has been an ambitious season. It started with Jensen Ackles playing Apocalypse Michael and ended with our favorite nephilim without a soul. The Supernatural Season 14 finale didn’t disappoint with a plot-twisty cliffhanger but the fate of one of our favorite characters hangs in the balance.

This is the point that we enter the spoiler territory. I highly recommend you watch the episode first. If you can’t watch the episode and you’re curious about the events before heading into this post, you can check out our “Moriah” recap.

If you thought we’d lose one of our own at the end of the Supernatural Season 14, you would be right. However, you probably didn’t guess how this character would be killed off. And yes, I’m answering the big question.

Jack is dead. There’s no way of getting around this. The show confirmed it by Castiel looking at the burned out eyes that signify there’s no coming back. God killed his own grandson.

But that’s not where we ended Jack’s story. Jack is dead but dead doesn’t quite stay dead on this show, right? In fact, Jack has even been brought back to life once. It wouldn’t be surprising for him to be brought back during the final season.

And it’s all set up with Jack in the Empty. I’m assuming by Jack being in the Empty, it meant that Jack’s soul was completely burned up. After all, he went to Heaven when he had a soul.

He woke up to face the weird blob that I’m assuming is the Shadow/Cosmic Entity/Whatever you want to call the thing that Castiel woke up back in Season 13. The Shadow didn’t wake Jack up out of the goodness of his heart.

Behind Jack stood Billie. Now, as a reaper, she’d made it clear that the natural order needs preserving but since becoming Death, she’s changed her tune. Some people are necessary to save the world. Jack is clearly one of those people.

While Jack may be dead right now, I get the feeling that he’s not going to stay dead. With God as the Big Bad and all the souls of Hell back on Earth, Billie will want to get the natural order back in, well, order. She knows that’s possible with the Winchesters, Castiel, and Jack working together. It’s time to get Team Free Will 2.0 back together.
