Usually, they’ve been able to get revenge, but that’s not quite the case this time. The person who killed Mary is basically the boy they’ve taken in as their son. He’s family and there’s no way that Dean or Sam would ever kill each other for revenge.
However, they may not have a choice. Jack is currently struggling with who he is and how he can do right in the world. Will little to no soul, he’s wide open for corruption and the angels seem to be taking advantage of that. Can the Winchesters save him before it’s too late?

And then there’s Castiel, who will need to make good on his previous actions. Yes, he was scared and he acted the way Dean and Sam both have in the past with their secrets, but that didn’t make things right. Nor does it surprise me that Dean is tender right now and unable to accept the apology after the death of his mom. Expect more tension as this episode airs.
