Will Supernatural do a Thanksgiving episode this year?
The CW made the mistake of putting an all-new episode of Supernatural on live on Thanksgiving last year. Will the network make the same mistake in 2018?
Cast your mind back to Thanksgiving in 2017. Supernatural fans had an all-new episode air on The CW. While that was fun for those who don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in November (like us Canadians), it was a big mistake for the network. Will The CW make the same mistake again this year?
Wait, an episode on Thanksgiving was a mistake? Well, most definitely! People spend time with their families and the last thing they’re going to do is watch a new episode of a show live. It doesn’t matter how popular that show is.

Supernatural‘s ratings were dismal that night and on a plot-heavy episode. “War of the Worlds” was the episode that saw a major plot with Asmodeus, the Apocalypse World, and much more. The total viewer ratings were 1.241 million and the demo rating stood at 0.34. This was a drop of 34.44% and 48.25% respectively, according to TV Series Finale.
So, will The CW make the same mistake? Certainly not!
There is no new episode of Supernatural at Thanksgiving. In fact, there’s no episode at all. Thursday, Nov. 22 will see iHeartRadio Festival publicized instead.
While this is good news for the ratings, those who don’t celebrate Thanksgiving will be a little annoyed. It’s all worth it for better overall ratings, though! It just means an extra week to catch Episode 7.
This will likely mean EPisode 6 ends with a cliffhanger, another reason I think Jack’s illness will be discovered in this episode. What’s the betting that Jack collapses at the end and it’s a major cliffhanger to pull us back in after the week break?
