Lucifer Season 4 will see the archangel Gabriel feature on the show, just not quite in the way you might expect him to.

So if you are a Supernatural fan, as well as a Lucifer fan, you probably got this almost immediately by the title. For those of you who are not part of the SPNFamily let me just explain what is going in with Lucifer season 4 and Gabriel.

We all know that Lucifer has many brothers. Michael, Raphael, loads of other angels that have wild and wonderful names, and then there’s Gabriel, another archangel. Gabriel has never featured in Lucifer so far, but that is all about to change very soon.

More from Supernatural

Gabriel has, however, featured in Supernatural. Played by Richard Speight Jr., the actor has played the archangel, nicknamed the Trickster in The CW for some time now and he is a massive fan of Lucifer. In fact, during that brief scary period of Lucifer being canceled, Richard Speight was one of the actors campaigning for the show to be saved. The campaign worked and Netflix picked up the series at the nth hour.

Speight is also involved in directing. He has directed several episodes of Supernatural and is about to move over to Lucifer to direct an episode of Season 4. Hence why Lucifer Season 4 introduces the archangel Gabriel, sort of.

Aimee Garcia shared the news that Speight is set to direct an episode of Lucifer via her official Twitter account. Supernatural fans have, of course, gone a little bit bonkers over this news, as many have wanted a crossover with the series for some time, ever since Mark Pellegrino, who plays Lucifer in Supernatural, poked fun at the show before it even aired.
