Supernatural Season 14: Jack will learn hunter basics

In the Supernatural’s Season 13 finale, Lucifer stole Jack’s grace and therefore his powers. When Season 14 returns, we’ll find him re-learning how to be a hunter.

When Supernatural returns next month, there is going to be a significant change for Jack. Since Lucifer stole his grace and made him powerless, he’s going to be starting from square one on the hunting front. According to TVLine, Jack is going to be tutored in the basics of hunting by Bobby. Which go back and re-read that sentence and tell me that is not something you want to see on screen.

We need to remember that Jack is technically only a year old at this point, and his entire existence in the last season revolved around learning and controlling his powers. He helped Sam, Dean and Cas hunt (go Team Freewill 2.0!), however, he relied mostly on his powers. Going into Season 14, he won’t have his powers to fall back on.

Apparently, this is where Bobby comes in. Since Dean is now Michael’s meatsuit and Sam is going to be working on trying to get him back, it makes sense that Bobby would be the one to teach Jack how to hunt like a human. This is sure to lead to many comical frustrated moments where Bobby teaches Jack to do something, but Jack doesn’t fully understand. This will also give the fan favorite Bobby some more screen time in the upcoming season as he Mr. Miyagi’s Jack.

With the absence of Dean on Team Freewill 2.0, it will be nice to have Jack as a fully functioning member of the team. It’ll also be a nice change of pace to have him hunting without his powers. As he learns how to master the art of being human, and all the frustrations that come with it, we’ll probably also see a lot of growth in his character.

Hunting is hard. Hunting is even harder when you used to just be able to hold your hand out and poof the bad guy out of existence.
