Jared Padalecki has talked about the shorter season order for the show this year. He also hints at hopes for Supernatural Season 15.

Thought Supernatural Season 14 was going to be the end? Well, I said don’t believe the rumors. It looks like the stars aren’t quite ready to hang up the flannel and keys to Baby just yet. Jared Padalecki talked about the shorter season order with hints that this could go on for at least another year. It’s all up to the network now.

We know that Supernatural Season 14 is the shortest season without writer’s strike issues so far. It’s all about a better quality of life for the main stars, who are in Vancouver filming but their families are in Texas. They want to see their families more and that’s totally understandable. In fact, I love that they do.

Of course, when fans first heard the season would be shorter without an explanation, many panicked. Did this mean The CW was getting ready to end the series? Definitely not! Mark Pedowitz has always said there’s a home on the network as long as the stars want to do it and the ratings hold.

Well, it looks like the stars are still interested. Jensen Ackles told Digital Spy that he’d stick with the show for 30 seasons if there were fewer episodes per season. While we may not get that because The CW may not want to drop to 13 episodes to a season, Jared Padalecki has hinted that it will be up to the network.

Should The CW decide that 15-18 episodes is enough financially for them, it sounds like Jared and Jensen will be happy to stick with the show. They want to see their families more, but it looks like there are still more stories to tell and they love their jobs as well. However, if the CW says they can’t do less than 20 episodes, he has said it will be a conversation to have next year.

To avoid taking it all out of context, here’s exactly what Jared has said to Digital Spy:

"“Sure, I’d do a shorter season. But I don’t know how long the writers need. The arc of a season doesn’t fall into my purview. I just know I want to see my family more. If it gets to the point where the network says they need at least 15, or 18, or we can’t do less than 20, then that’s a question we’ll figure out at the end of this year.”"

What I take from that is there’s no need to panic about Supernatural Season 15 just yet. All we can do is show the network we still want some episodes. If that means a 15-18 episode season to get more episodes of Supernatural then we’ll take it. Let The CW know that this is a viable option financially.
