Jeffrey Dean Morgan took to Twitter yesterday to tell people to respect his privacy. Just why was that request even necessary?

It astounds me that people still believe celebrities aren’t entitled to any privacy. However, yesterday, Supernatural‘s Jeffrey Dean Morgan took to Twitter to share his anger at people not respecting his and his family’s privacy. And he’s not the only celebrity with this problem. Shortly after, Danneel Ackles retweeted Morgan’s tweet making it clear that it happens at their house too. People show up and take photos/selfies and even knock on the door.

This isn’t on people! Just how can you think it is? Just because they have chosen a job that involves becoming household names does not mean they have no right to any privacy! Their house should be a safe space; the place they go to get away from fans and away from people in general. It’s their place to spend time with their families.

More from Supernatural

Expecting to be able to knock on the door and get a photo with your favorite actor leads to many actors not wanting to be around fans at all. The Big Bang Theory may show the characters do it regularly, but you’re not Sheldon Cooper and you’re not in a TV show of your own! Plus, Sheldon Cooper gets into a lot of trouble and has multiple restraining orders because of this sort of thing. That kind of tells you that it’s not a good thing; that you’re not entitled to this!

Jeffery Dean Morgan shouldn’t need to tell you to respect his and his family’s privacy. Danneel Ackles shouldn’t need to push out the same sentiment on her Twitter! Celebrities have a right to privacy. They have a right not to be pestered by fans every second of the day. Just because they’re in the public eye doesn’t mean they lose all their rights! If you really think otherwise, there is seriously something wrong and I suggest getting help and treatment for it. I’m being serious there!

Phew! That is that rant over. I’m sorry that Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Danneel Ackles, and others have been treated so poorly by “fans.”
