Christopher Heyerdahl is known by the Supernatural fans as the devious and dangerous Alastair. Now he’s playing a similarly dark role in Van Helsing, which has won him a Leo Awards in 2018.

Supernatural Season 4 brought up the dark, dangerous, and dastardly Alastair, played secondly by the wonderful Christopher Heyerdahl. This demon was so dangerous that he had white eyes instead of black, something previously only seen from Lilith a season earlier. Now Heyerdahl has moved on from The CW series to Van Helsing, where he’s taken on a similarly dark and dangerous role but with a twist.

His performance has been highly commended by Van Helsing fans. You found yourself trusting and liking him, until it turned out that he wasn’t one you should actually like. And that’s just one of the reasons Heyerdahl deserves his Leo Awards 2018 win for Best Lead Performance by a Male in a Dramatic Series.

The Leo Awards are a British Columbia award for Canadian-based shows and movies. Van Helsing, like Supernatural, airs North of the border, where it tends to be cheaper. This has also opened up plenty of opportunities to Canadian actors and actresses, as well as jobs in the country.

Heyerdahl wasn’t the only Van Helsing or Supernatural actor or crew member nominated. He actually went up against two of his own colleagues, one of which was Aleks Paunovic, who has appeared in Supernatural three times.

Seth Isaac Johnson was nominated for Best Guest Performance by a Male in a Dramatic Series for this role in Supernatural‘s “Advance Thanatology.” He played Shawn Raider in the fifth episode of the recent season. Rob Hayter was nominated for Best Stunt Coordination in a Dramatic Series for the Supernatural Season 13 premiere.
