The CW released its Dare to Defy midseason trailer earlier this week. Supernatural fans were instantly left disappointed with the lack of inclusion.

Every year, The CW puts together a Dare to Defy trailer for the midseason lineup. The idea is to showcase the top shows for the spring months, which means focusing on some of the fall shows, but also bringing in characters from the various winter and spring shows. Unfortunately, the trailer left Supernatural fans, along with a couple of other fandoms, disappointed.

Sure enough, there was one Supernatural glimpse. But it lasted all of a second before moving onto other shows. While it wasn’t as bad as some trailers and did focus on both of the main characters from the very beginning of the series, it still under-represented a show that is one of The CW’s pride and joys; a show that predates the network and is the second-longest sci-fi series in the world (behind Doctor Who). Many fans would have liked to have seen at least Misha Collins in the trailer, as Castiel is now a firm favorite in the fandom.

Other fandoms, such as The 100 and iZombie, were also left upset at the lack of focus. The two were the only two shows to only have one character from each show in the 1-minutes, 17-second trailer, and again got one second each on the screen.

At least The 100 got a trailer for Season 5 shortly after the Dare to Defy teaser drop. Supernatural and iZombie fans got nothing.

Many fans of the three shows have complained about the over-focus on Riverdale. While it is a popular show, it’s not one of the most popular. At least there was a good amount of focus on the DC shows, including the newest Black Lightning.

The lack of inclusion of Supernatural doesn’t likely mean anything too bad. While the series still hasn’t been renewed for Season 14, that news is likely coming very soon. It’s possibly an oversight, with so many characters on Riverdale to give focus, but it is annoying and disappointing.
