The CW continues Wayward Sisters promo push with new trailer
A new trailer has been released for Wayward Sisters to promote the spin-off.
In case you didn’t know, Supernatural will hopefully be getting a spin-off. The winter premiere is going to be the second part of the Wayward Sisters backdoor pilot. While the spin-off hasn’t officially been confirmed, it’s extremely clear the network wants it. Why else would it spend thousands of dollars on spin-off promotion?
And that’s just what it’s done.

Really, if you haven’t heard about the spin-off, you’ve either not been reading the news about the show or you’ve been living under a rock. This has been talked about since the summer, but over the last month or so the promotion has increased considerably. The winter premiere doesn’t just have one promo trailer, but three.
Yes, three! The latest one dropped yesterday. Still with the cheesy Claire Novak voiceover, the trailer shows a little more of the Winchesters in the Bad Place and tells Claire’s story of returning home to save them. It’s nothing extra that we didn’t know already, but keeps the show in the focus.
News about the series has also increased. Vlogger Alana King has released her Wayward: The Documentary video, which has interviews from the cast of the spin-off, and multiple publications are releasing interviews from cast members about the series. Then there are all the Twitter promos happening, making sure you remember the backdoor pilot happens on Jan. 18 at 8/7c.

Mark Pedowitz has also shared how excited he is for this series. The first Supernatural spin-off attempt didn’t work. The network and SPN showrunners looked at the mistakes and made some changes. Now the network clearly has a spin-off its proud of hosting and wants fans to tune in and like it. If the people like it, there are high chances the network will greenlight it.
Part of the reason Bloodlines didn’t work as a spin-off was certainly a lack of promotion. I know as a fan watching it the first time I had no idea it was supposed to be a backdoor pilot. It just felt like a filler episode to show monsters aren’t always attacking just humans. There was certainly something weird about the episode, but it wasn’t until afterwards that I realized it was supposed to be this backdoor pilot to a spin-off with potential. The lack of marketing (plus the characters and execution of the storyline) led to its failure.
