Mark Pedowtiz shares his thoughts about a Supernatural renewal.

Many fans hoped the TCA weekend just gone would be the time for a Supernatural renewal announcement. Unfortunately, the weekend came and went with no confirmation. However, there are hints that it is definitely going to happen. Mark Pedowitz shared his thoughts about the series and the things to come, including what it would take for season 14 to be official.

It’s up to the actors and the fans

Pedowitz has stated for a few years now that Supernatural is a cornerstone of The CW. Since he took over running the network, he’s seen that the longest-running show for the network continues to be one of the highest performing both live and digitally. This has continually helped to secure renewals.

Now it’s all up to the actors. The CW boss says that as long as the actors want to do the show, it will continue to be renewed. However, there is another stipulation: the viewing figures.

The audience numbers need to hold steady. So far that shouldn’t be a problem, as Season 13 has already proven to be popular. The only week that saw a big dip was Thanksgiving week, which was highly anticipated by the fanbase and the episode will likely be considered a “Thanksgiving Special,” so not included in the overall average figures.

However, Supernatural fans don’t want to get too complacent about the series. Everyone needs to tune in as much as possible, whether live through the network or through the app.

"[Supernatural] will go on as long as it keeps going, [stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles] keep doing it and the ratings keep holding.–Mark Pedowitz"

Show the love on social media

Twitter is an excellent platform to show some love. The CW looks at digital results, including the social media standings on a weekly basis. For Supernatural Season 14 to get picked up, fans can keep tweeting, even if they’re not watching the episode.

Using #Supernatural three hours before, the hour of, and three hours after a new episode airs is the best way to let Pedowitz and his network know you want a new season. Make sure the hashtag is one of the first two hashtags for it to be included in the Twitter rankings for the night. It doesn’t matter what you’re tweeting about, as long as the hashtag is used, although something on the topic of the show is best!

Right now, there are extremely high chances that Supernatural Season 14 is a go. The actors are signed up to next year, so unless something drastically changes it looks like they’re happy with another season. Now it’s all about keeping the viewer ratings high and letting The CW know another season is wanted.
